How far in advance should I book?
I'm usually booked 12+ months ahead, especially for weddings in peak season (May to September). The earlier you get in touch, the better your chances. I do occasionally have last-minute dates though, so it's always worth asking.
How much is a wedding DJ?
£600 for 3 hours, £700 for 4 hours, or £800 for 5 hours, including my full setup and travel within a reasonable distance. Send me your timings and venue and you'll have an exact quote within 24 hours.
Can you play the drinks reception and dinner too?
Yes. I can cover as much of the day as you like, from relaxed background music during drinks and dinner right through to the last song of the night. We'll plan the timings together.
We have a band. Can you play around them?
Definitely. I DJ between band sets and after they finish all the time, and have done for years alongside The Function Band and Courtier Music. More on band breaks.
How do we plan the music?
Before the day we'll go through your must-plays, your do-not-plays, your first dance and any key moments. Give me as much or as little direction as you like; most couples give me a steer and trust me with the rest.
What music do you play?
My sweet spot is 80s bangers, 90s RnB, disco, funk & soul, modern house and Kisstory-style throwbacks: music that gets every generation on the floor. I'm less experienced with afrobeats, grime and heavy hip-hop, so if those are central to your event I might not be the best fit. I'd rather be honest upfront.
What's your microphone style?
Simple, understated and to the point. No booming radio-DJ voice, no catchphrases, no talking over the music. I'll make announcements when they're needed (first dance, cake, last song) and otherwise let the music do the talking.
How much space do you need?
Not much. Around 2m × 1.5m for the booth, decks and speakers, plus a power socket nearby. I've set up everywhere from grand ballrooms to tight marquee corners, and I'll work with your venue on the best spot for sound and looks.
Are you insured?
Yes. I carry £10 million public liability insurance and all my equipment is PAT tested. I can send the certificates straight to your venue. Most venues ask for them, so I'm used to it.
Can we chat before booking?
Of course. I'm happy to jump on a call or video chat, or meet in person if you're local. You should feel completely comfortable before you book. No pressure, no hard sell.
What happens if you're ill?
It's never happened in 10 years, but I have a network of trusted, experienced DJs who could step in at short notice. I'd never leave you without cover, and I'd personally brief whoever stepped in.
