DJ for band breaks
Booked a band? I’ll fill the gaps.
I DJ between your band’s sets and after they finish, so there’s music all night.
- 10 years behind the decks
- Booked 12+ months ahead
- £10m insured
- The Function Band
- Courtier Music
- Footballers, sultans & celebrities
01 How it works
Band, DJ, band, DJ. No gaps.
Doors to dance floor
The band opens. I’m set up beside them.
No silence
Straight in, the second they finish.
Clean handover
Back to the band, crowd still warm.
The last hour
Right through to the last song.
02 Why add a DJ
The band brings the show. I keep it going.
Breaks are where nights lose momentum. I pick up where the band leaves off and hand back a warm crowd.
No gaps. No quiet bits.

04 Meet your DJ
Hi, I’m Tristan.
Ten years DJing alongside The Function Band and Courtier Music, at venues across Europe and for footballers, sultans and celebrities.
People book me for the mixing and the crowd reading. Cool, but never cringe.
Based in Hertford
Can we book you just for the breaks?
Yes. Breaks and the close of the night is one of the most common things I'm booked for. It's often the best value way to keep a band night going.
How long are the DJ slots?
Typically about 20 minutes between band sets and 30 to 60 minutes after the band finishes, but it's completely flexible around your timings.
Do you need the band’s PA?
No. I bring my own decks and booth, and can either plug into the band's system (usually easiest) or bring my own speakers. I'll sort the details directly with your bandleader.
Will the music flow with the band?
That's the whole point. I pick up the energy the band leaves and hand the crowd back warm, so the floor never empties.
How much space do you need?
Not much. Around 2m × 1.5m for the booth, decks and speakers, plus a power socket nearby. I've set up everywhere from grand ballrooms to tight marquee corners, and I'll work with your venue on the best spot for sound and looks.
How do we plan the music?
Before the day we'll go through your must-plays, your do-not-plays, your first dance and any key moments. Give me as much or as little direction as you like; most couples give me a steer and trust me with the rest.
What's your microphone style?
Simple, understated and to the point. No booming radio-DJ voice, no catchphrases, no talking over the music. I'll make announcements when they're needed (first dance, cake, last song) and otherwise let the music do the talking.
Are you insured?
Yes. I carry £10 million public liability insurance and all my equipment is PAT tested. I can send the certificates straight to your venue. Most venues ask for them, so I'm used to it.
